### Centre Manager

9 years with our centre

- Diploma of Children's Services

"My passion is to create a rich learning environment that fosters fun and the development of children's interests, abilities, and strengths."

I began my journey in the early learning sector in 2012. I joined Great Beginnings Halls Head when it opened in 2017 and worked here for five years before moving to Great Beginnings Golden Bay. After four years away, I returned in May 2026.
Throughout my career, I have held various roles, including Educational Leader, where I guided quality practice and programming. My passion is to create a rich learning environment that fosters fun and the development of children's interests, abilities, and strengths. Educators play a crucial role in offering children opportunities to develop life skills, face age-appropriate challenges, and make decisions about their learning journey. I strive to ensure every child is respected and valued as an individual in our community.
The early years (birth to five) are foundational for social and emotional development. Attending a dedicated early learning environment provides children with the stepping stones to build their identity, resilience, and independence before formal schooling. We aim to give all children a sense of agency and belonging.
Our team at Golden Bay is hand-picked for their passion, experience, and knowledge. We are dedicated educators committed to instilling a lifelong love of learning in children. Our families are always welcome. We have an orientation process to support new families in settling into care. We distribute a monthly event calendar and maintain regular, transparent communication to keep you informed. We welcome your feedback, questions, and concerns and are here to help.
I look forward to welcoming your family to our Great Beginnings Halls Head early learning community.

## Our innovative early learning programs

At our early learning centre in Halls Head, our play-based curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), supporting children to learn through play, exploration and discovery.

#### Sustainability

Our sustainability program features a recycling station, worm garden, and herb garden. We teach children about waste reduction and promote environmental awareness.

#### Social and emotional learning

Children develop a strong sense of identity as they feel safe, secure and supported, building confidence, resilience and a positive sense of self. Through group activities, conversations and play, children learn to interact with others with care, empathy and respect, building positive relationships and friendships.

#### Community engagement

We often have visits from community services in Halls Head to help familiarise the children with their local community, and we go on adventures to other community locations to teach them about their environment.

#### Exploration and problem solving

Educators introduce open-ended materials and invitations to explore, such as building, measuring and experimenting. Through shared conversations and investigation, children develop curiosity, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

My son has been attending for the past 6 months and is now transitioning into N2. We wanted to honour the educators there especially Tracy and Jacinta who have been a familiar face and helped settle him into daycare. Also is lovely to be met by Miriam and staff upon entry and notified of any news in the centre. He now waves goodbye in the mornings with a smile.

I love our Great Beginnings. The facilities are brand new, clean and fresh. The staff are lovely, bubbly and I believe they genuinely care about my son. I would recommend this daycare to anyone and have done to my friends. I love the apps that allow me to book at short notice (subject to availability) and allow me to see pictures of the day. My child enjoys going here and is always happy upon drop off and pick up. So glad I found these ladies to care for my little one!

Great centre and staff, our son has been attending since he was 11 months old and still there today, 2 years later. He loves all the educators and they have been super helpful along the way.

I am very impressed with my daughters daycare centre at Great Beginnings in Halls Head. When I first rang up to enrol, I had just received a new full time position that was starting the next Monday and I had 2 days to enrol before that time. Great beginnings helped me do it all over the phone and internet with ease and I was very grateful for the assistance given during that process.

As a first time mum, I was very nervous when dropping my daughter off for the first week. I wrote extensive notes and tried to explain her normal daily routine. However it turns out, just trusting the carers to work with my daughter proved the better method in the end.

Overall, I am very happy with the service provided. My daughter has taken to all her carers like they are family and that's exactly what I hoped for. I wanted her to know she was loved and taken care of while at the centre.

Thank you for everything so far, we will definitely be staying at Great Beginnings until my daughter reaches school level. 😊

## Frequently asked questions

##

A centre tour is a convenient way to experience the childcare centre of your choice and meet with our qualified educators at a time that is suitable for your family’s schedule. [Click here to book a tour online.](/book-a-tour)

On the day of the tour, you can observe practices and interactions within the centre environment. You’ll be able to see all the rooms and playgrounds, ask the team members any questions you have in mind, and get all the information you need to make the best decision for your child.

##

Enrolling is simple, and our Family Support Team will guide you through each step.

First, find your local centre and book a tour so you can meet the team and explore the learning environment. If the centre is the right fit and a place is available, you’ll receive an enrolment offer for your child. If a place is not currently available in your child’s age group, we can add your child to the waitlist and keep you updated.

To finalise your enrolment, you’ll complete an online enrolment form through a secure link sent by our Family Support Team. You’ll also need to provide key details and documents, including your child’s birth certificate, Medicare details, immunisation history statement and, if eligible, your Child Care Subsidy details.

Before your child’s first day, you may be invited to attend a Stay and Play session. This gives your child time to explore the centre, meet their educators, and start feeling comfortable in their new environment. Once your paperwork is complete, your child is ready to start their early learning journey with us.

[Read our step-by-step guide on how to enrol here.](/family-information/how-to-enrol)

##

Starting child care is a big milestone, and a little preparation can help your child feel more comfortable and confident.

Before your child’s first day, you can talk positively about their new centre, explain what their day might look like, and practise small routines such as packing their bag, saying goodbye, washing hands and sitting down for meals. You may also like to visit the centre with your child, meet their educators and ask our team about what to bring on the first day.

When your child starts, our educators will take the time to get to know your child’s routine, interests, comfort items and individual needs. Settling in looks different for every child, so we work closely with families to help children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

[Learn more about our Settling-in Program.](/family-information/settling-in-program)

##

Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits and spare socks.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits and spare socks.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

##

Great Beginnings uses Xplor Home as our [family communication app](/family-information/family-communication). It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

##

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, Great Beginnings is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
