Childcare and Kindergarten in Cranbourne North, Victoria

Great Beginnings Cranbourne North offers long day care and Kindergarten for children aged 6 weeks to school age, conveniently located for families in Cranbourne North, Clyde North, Cranbourne East, Narre Warren South and Pakenham.

Outdoor play with yarning circles

Our expansive outdoor area gives children plenty of space to move, climb and play, with a fort, slide and a variety of play equipment. Yarning circles also create places for group learning, storytelling, connection and quieter conversations outdoors.

Light-filled indoor learning spaces

Indoor rooms are bright and inviting, with resources set up for play-based learning across different ages. Children can create, build, investigate, spend time with friends and follow ideas that grow through the day.

Stable team of educators

Children are guided by a highly experienced and consistent team of educators and teachers. Familiar relationships help children settle into routines, while giving families a team that understands their childโ€™s interests, needs and personality.

Kindergarten with school connections

Our Government-approved Kindergarten is led by qualified Early Childhood Teachers. Children take part in play, group learning, routines and school-readiness experiences, with connections to the local primary school helping them feel more familiar with the next step.

Individual Learning Plans for every child

We create Individual Learning Plans for each child, based on their interests, strengths and developmental goals, and work together with families to review and update them over time.

Hey Dee Ho music classes

Hey Dee Ho music classes are included in the program for all age groups. These sessions bring songs, rhythm, movement and group participation into the week in a way that feels fun and familiar for children.

Fresh meals and garden-to-plate learning

Our in-house chef prepares breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack each day. The chef also cooks with the children, introducing different fruits and vegetables through hands-on experiences. Each age group has its own vegetable pods, giving children a chance to grow, taste and use herbs as part of the program.

Family communication and daily support

Nappies, wipes and selected essentials are provided to help make daily routines easier, with infant feeding support available where needed. Families stay connected through educator conversations and updates shared in our communication app, including photos, routines and moments from their childโ€™s day.

"With access to age-appropriate resources, trained educators, and new experiences among friends, we create an environment where children thrive."

I began my career in Early Childhood Education and Care in 2006. I am passionate about childrenโ€™s learning and development. Knowing that I have made a positive impact makes every day rewarding.

Our Cranbourne North early learning centre uses play-based learning as the foundation for daily experiences. With access to age-appropriate resources, trained educators, and new experiences among friends, we create an environment where children thrive.

At our centre, children develop curiosity, problem-solving skills, confidence, and resilience through carefully planned play-based activities tailored to their interests and learning goals. As they engage in these experiences, they enhance their language, motor skills, memory, concentration, and social relationshipsโ€”an incredible journey to witness!

The team at Great Beginnings Cranbourne North is excited to meet you and embark on this exciting adventure together.

Our innovative early learning programs

At our early learning centre in Cranbourne North, our play-based curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), supporting children to learn through play, exploration and discovery.

Social and emotional learning

Children develop a strong sense of identity as they feel safe, secure and supported, building confidence, resilience and a positive sense of self. Through group activities, conversations and play, children learn to interact with others with care, empathy and respect, building positive relationships and friendships.

Sustainability

We teach children the importance of sustainability by participating in the local Reverse Art Program, maintaining a community clothing rack, composting, and managing a worm farm. Children help care for our gardens, learn to conserve electricity by using natural light, and reuse water from their bottles to nourish our garden beds.

Community engagement

Our nursery children enjoy regular pram walks to a nearby waterway to see the ducks, offering a delightful and engaging outing. We also have a strong relationship with our local school in Cranbourne South, with our Kinder children making regular visits, fostering a sense of community and familiarity as they prepare for school.

Exploration and problem solving

Educators introduce open-ended materials and invitations to explore, such as building, measuring and experimenting. Through shared conversations and investigation, children develop curiosity, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

All the staff members are so lovely and always communicate beautifully, keeping us updated on how our kids are doing. A special thank you to Sam and Tarn. My son used to struggle with morning drop-offs, but Sam always makes sure he feels comfortable, getting him excited to come in and encouraging him to express how he's feeling each day. Whenever we have admin questions, Tarn gives us instant, reassuring answers with exactly what we need to know. My children absolutely love the food there, too! The chef even took our home country into consideration and added special dishes to the menu, which truly makes us feel at home.

See more I have visited six other centres in the area and the management team at Great Beginnings Cranbourne North has always been the part that puts them above the rest. From the first tour, Sam is involved with the children, knew each one of them so well and interacted with them with so much love. Tarn is always ready to answer any admin query and lend an extra pair of helping hands. We have been part of the centre for over a year and I can say with confidence that Sam and Tarn have gone above and beyond for our family. They always find a way to help, even on the financial side of things. Another part that I love about the centre is that the teachers stay, its not teachers that come and go but ones that have been there for years. There are centres that appear more fancy and with higher fees but Great Beginnings Cranbourne North is a centre that feels like a comfortable fit that focus on personal connection. And to me that matters most!

Frequently asked questions

A centre tour is a convenient way to experience the childcare centre of your choice and meet with our qualified educators at a time that is suitable for your family’s schedule. Click here to book a tour online.

On the day of the tour, you can observe practices and interactions within the centre environment. Youโ€™ll be able to see all the rooms and playgrounds, ask the team members any questions you have in mind, and get all the information you need to make the best decision for your child.

Enrolling is simple, and our Family Support Team will guide you through each step.

First, find your local centre and book a tour so you can meet the team and explore the learning environment. If the centre is the right fit and a place is available, youโ€™ll receive an enrolment offer for your child. If a place is not currently available in your childโ€™s age group, we can add your child to the waitlist and keep you updated.

To finalise your enrolment, youโ€™ll complete an online enrolment form through a secure link sent by our Family Support Team. Youโ€™ll also need to provide key details and documents, including your childโ€™s birth certificate, Medicare details, immunisation history statement and, if eligible, your Child Care Subsidy details.

Before your childโ€™s first day, you may be invited to attend a Stay and Play session. This gives your child time to explore the centre, meet their educators, and start feeling comfortable in their new environment. Once your paperwork is complete, your child is ready to start their early learning journey with us.

Read our step-by-step guide on how to enrol here.

Starting child care is a big milestone, and a little preparation can help your child feel more comfortable and confident.

Before your childโ€™s first day, you can talk positively about their new centre, explain what their day might look like, and practise small routines such as packing their bag, saying goodbye, washing hands and sitting down for meals. You may also like to visit the centre with your child, meet their educators and ask our team about what to bring on the first day.

When your child starts, our educators will take the time to get to know your childโ€™s routine, interests, comfort items and individual needs. Settling in looks different for every child, so we work closely with families to help children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

Learn more about our Settling-in Program.

Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits and spare socks.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, itโ€™s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits and spare socks.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

Itโ€™s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

Great Beginnings uses Xplor Home as our family communication app. It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your childโ€™s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your childโ€™s learning, learn about your childโ€™s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, Great Beginnings is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
