“I believe every child deserves a safe, secure environment that fosters healthy relationships and a sense of identity. ”

I began my career in early childhood education in 2002 and joined Great Beginnings Gilles Plains in 2022. I have been with G8 Education for over a decade and have held many positions, including Centre manager and area manager.

I believe every child deserves a safe, secure environment that fosters healthy relationships and a sense of identity. Healthy, trusting relationships help children develop a strong sense of well-being and confidence as learners. Allowing children freedom within age-appropriate limits encourages their involvement and connection to the world.

My pedagogical practice centres on the uniqueness of each child as an individual learner. I’m passionate about guiding children on their learning and life journeys, fostering emotional well-being, and promoting confidence.

At our Gilles Plains early learning centre, our approach to relationships with children and family partnerships is grounded in the Circle of Security model. Upon enrolment, a team member is assigned as your child’s Primary Carer. Primary Carers develop responsive and respectful relationships with new families, become acquainted with individual routines and interests during the orientation process, and serve as a safe base throughout the transition into the education and care environment. Additionally, Primary Carers support children in forming relationships with peers and educators, encourage family engagement with our services, and collaborate with families in planning individual and group learning experiences.

I look forward to welcoming your family to our beautiful early learning centre in Gilles Plains.

Our innovative early learning programs

At our early learning centre in Gilles Plains, our experienced educators and teachers continually seek innovative ways to enrich your child’s education. Guided by the Early Years Learning Framework, we offer a variety of engaging and diverse learning experiences, including:

Social and emotional learning

Children develop a strong sense of identity as they feel safe, secure and supported, building confidence, resilience and a positive sense of self. Through group activities, conversations and play, children learn to interact with others with care, empathy and respect, building positive relationships and friendships.

Community partnerships

Our preschool children regularly visit the local primary school as part of their school readiness program. We also participate in regular community walks to the park and the local fruit and vegetable supermarket.

Exploration and problem solving

Educators introduce open-ended materials and invitations to explore, such as building, measuring and experimenting. Through shared conversations and investigation, children develop curiosity, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Language and early literacy

Children develop early literacy through storytelling, books, songs and meaningful conversations. Educators support children to explore language in many forms, including speaking, listening, viewing, drawing and writing, while building confidence communicating with others.

Age-appropriate early learning

We provide learning experiences tailored to each stage of your child’s development. Our programs are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and designed to support children’s wellbeing, confidence and growing independence.

Beautiful, purpose-built facility with safety and care front of mind. Very well-trained, supportive staff that offer the most welcoming environment. Starting at just two days a week, I quickly took on more days because of how much my children were thriving there (routine, friendships, confidence, skills). My children have created the sweetest relationships with the educators throughout the centre in nursery, toddlers and kindy. Well done to all the staff for the wonderful community you have built for me and my family.

The educators and management team are caring, professional, and truly go above and beyond for the children. My oldest son has now moved on to Reception, but he still remembers and talks about his teachers from the centre. When he was still attending, he had some health issues, and the staff looked after him with so much care and attention. I’m very grateful for their kindness and support ❤️

We also do monthly check-ins to review availability, and you will receive a text message confirming whether you’re still happy to remain on the waitlist each month. If you would like an update at any point, you’re welcome to reach out on our Web Chat or give us a call.

Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits and spare socks.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits and spare socks.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

Great Beginnings uses Xplor Home as our family communication app. It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, Great Beginnings is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
