See where great beginnings start at Great Beginnings Atherton. Our long day care and early learning centre provides child care in Atherton that is perfect for families living or commuting through Mareeba, Tolga, Yungaburra and Walkamin. We’re located on Roberts Street just down the road from Atherton Show Grounds.
From the moment you step into our child care centre, you’ll be immersed in a world where children are encouraged to discover and learn. Our spacious outdoor areas feature sandpits, gardens and play equipment to engage all the senses. Children are provided time and space for uninterrupted play as they explore the outdoors to test their limits and develop strength, balance, and self-confidence. Being outside supports children’s overall health and wellbeing.
Our indoor spaces invite exploration with quality resources and learning experiences. Children wonder, create, and test out their ideas as they play with a range of materials in purposeful play spaces. Our experienced educators plan play-based learning experiences around children’s interests and learning goals.
Our Vacation Care program offers school-aged children (5 – 12 years) time to unwind and spend time with friends during school holidays. The program provides daily variety, focusing on fun and learning through a mix of indoor and outdoor play.
There’s no need to worry about preparing lunch or snacks. Healthy, freshly made meals and snacks are created daily by our in-house cook, catering for all dietary requirements. Shared mealtimes between children and educators strengthen relationships, with opportunities to share stories and experiences, and model healthy eating practices.
No two days are the same at our Atherton child care centre. Engaging specialised programs including sport and movement are included to build a strong foundation in learning and skill development. For an additional fee, we also offer the opportunity for swimming lessons for older children. These fun and engaging programs enhance the daily program.
Educators and children venture out on excursions to our local community visiting the nearby library, parks and businesses. We welcome community members to the centre based on the children’s interests.
Neighbourhood connections support a sense of community and belonging for children and provide opportunities to develop social and observational skills with different people, places, and environments.
As members of our Great Beginnings community, we look forward to partnering with you to provide information, support, and high-quality education and care in your child’s formative years.
