Centre Manager - Great Beginnings Ellenbrook

“I am passionate and enthusiastic about providing our children with the best possible start in life, focussing on all aspects of their early development.”

I began my career in early childhood education and care in 2012 and started working at Great Beginnings Ellenbrook in 2020. I hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.

From a very young age I have a had an interest in how children develop, I had many younger cousins that I used to look after and always wondered why they were so different in their behaviour, responses and ways to see life. Upon finishing high school, I had the opportunity to study education, and given my interest in the early years, I chose to study Early Childhood Education, fulfilling my interest and enjoying every day of my work.

My teaching approach has been highly influenced by Vygotsky’s and Reggio Emilia’s understanding of child’s development and learning and I have been a witness of fantastic upbringings under these conceptions of respect and consider each child individually.

All childcare centres, including our centre, use the foundation of play-based learning to guide our experiences every day. With access to a range of age-appropriate learning resources, trained educators, and new experiences among friends, we set children up to thrive in an environment that is dedicated to learning. Children develop their curiosity, problem-solving, confidence and resilience at our centre, and we carefully plan play-based learning experiences around their interests and learning goals. Over time, you will see your child develop abilities such as language, motor movement, memory, concentration and social relationships all by partaking in these experiences - it's a truly incredible journey to witness!

We have long-serving, multicultural team members who reflect our local community. Many have been with the centre over 5 years. It’s the sort of centre where everyone knows all the children, no matter which room they are in. The educators are passionate in what they do, and they work very cohesively with each other.

They are so committed and positive about their role as educators. Even some of them are furthering their careers in the sector to gain more skills that will benefit themselves and the children under their care.  The whole team sees their role as incredibly important, helping children establish the building blocks for a successful lifetime of learning.

Our team understands just how important your children are to you and we ensure we take our responsibilities seriously. Great Beginnings has extensive policy and procedures in place to assist our team in protecting children in our care. You can read more about our commitment to safety here.

I am passionate and enthusiastic about providing our children with the best possible start in life, focussing on all aspects of their early development. As the Centre Manager, I work closely with my team, families and our local community to ensure that our children receive the highest quality of care and education at our service. As children learn many skills through play, I strongly believe in using our environments as the children’s third teacher and continuously striving to exceed this with my team of wonderful Educators.

Families see us as an extension of their own family. Getting to know their children’s personality and preferences is always a solid bridge to build a good relationship which we always aim for at Great Beginnings Ellenbrook.

To support new families, we always try to gather as much information as possible to welcome our new families by name and to inspire some trust and familiarity. We listen carefully to all questions and ideas and when possible, we involve the children as well. We then offer families the time they need to observe, ask and feel supported.

A fun fact about me is that I am a crazy plant lady and would think twice before going on holidays as I don’t enjoy leaving my babies alone.
