Centre Manager - Great Beginnings Marangaroo

“I feel privileged to meet each child that comes through our doors and hope that when they leave each day, they feel special, confident and inspired.

I began my career in early childhood education and care in 2004 and started working at Great Beginnings Marangaroo in 2012. I hold a Diploma of Children Services 0-12 years, OSHC Management x 2 years and LDC Management x 9 years.

You could say my passion for early education runs in the family. It first started when I used to volunteer in my school holidays at a childcare centre where my mother and sister were both employed at the time. From there, under their guidance. I studied Early Childhood throughout high school and continued to further my skills with the completion of my Diploma.

Part of my personal philosophy is that all children have a right to feel safe, loved, and secure in their environment. I believe that all children are individual, and each have their own unique personality.

Throughout my career, I have seen many improvements and changes to the practices within the industry and to focus on each child’s overall wellbeing and education. I have held varied positions within the industry providing educational programs for children aged from 0-12 years.

All childcare centres, including our centre, use the foundation of play-based learning to guide our experiences every day. With access to a range of age-appropriate learning resources, trained educators, and new experiences among friends, we set children up to thrive in an environment that is dedicated to learning. Children develop their curiosity, problem-solving, confidence and resilience at our centre, and we carefully plan play-based learning experiences around their interests and learning goals. Over time, you will see your child develop abilities such as language, motor movement, memory, concentration, and social relationships all by partaking in these experiences - it's a truly incredible journey to witness!

We have long-serving, multicultural team members who reflect our local community. Many have been with the centre over 5 years. A couple have even celebrated their 10-year anniversary with us. It’s the sort of centre where everyone knows all the children, no matter which room they are in. We are such a close-knit team it feels like one big family. The best part of my job is the team – they are so committed and positive about their role as educators.  The whole team sees their role as incredibly important, helping children establish the building blocks for a successful lifetime of learning.

I like to think of myself as an equal asset to our team along with the educators that I lead as we are all important and valuable in our own right. A solid team is the foundation for providing quality care. I feel it is extremely important to form close relationships with families and that we as educators work in partnership with families to ensure that each child develops to their full potential.

Our team understands just how important your children are to you and we ensure we take our responsibilities seriously. Great Beginnings has extensive policy and procedures in place to assist our team in protecting children in our care. You can read more about our commitment to safety here.

We have a great rapport with our families, respecting individuality, and catering to needs as best we can. It is important to check in with our families on a weekly basis to find out how they are feeling in relation to their child’s wellbeing and their own.

Our team go the extra mile for our families by way of communication, sending extra photos of children when families are feeling anxious or in need of cheering up. We often organise collections of food items to keep in the foyer to share amongst our families who may need a little extra help or did not get time to go to the shops.

I have designed step by step emails and handout packs for families to use when going through the process of enrolling. We have laptops available for families if they do not have internet access at home to complete their forms.

We look forward to meeting you at Great Beginnings Marangaroo.
