Centre Manager - Great Beginnings Parmelia
“My personal philosophy for teaching is “While I teach your child all about the world, they are teaching me what the world is all about.”
I began my career in early childhood education and care in 2014 and started working at Great Beginnings Parmelia in 2019. I hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care. I’m also fully trained in Child Protection, First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certificate.
I have always had a passion for supporting children and watching them grow. I wanted to work in an industry where you can come to work each day and know you’re making a difference in someone’s life and can see that difference in the children’s smiles.
Children are capable of so much more than adults give them credit for. Their emotional and social awareness from a very young age is astounding and the relationships they form not only with their peers but with their educators have me in awe. I believe in providing the children with opportunities for learning and open-ended resources so that they can incorporate their individual skills and understandings into their experiences and therefore demonstrate their own autonomy and independence.
My personal philosophy for teaching is “While I teach your child all about the world, they are teaching me what the world is all about.” Children have such a pure and positive perspective on their surroundings; seeing the world through their eyes makes every day a new adventure.
All childcare centres, including our centre, use the foundation of play-based learning to guide our experiences every day. With access to a range of age-appropriate learning resources, trained educators, and new experiences among friends, we set children up to thrive in an environment that is dedicated to learning. Children develop their curiosity, problem-solving, confidence and resilience at our centre, and we carefully plan play-based learning experiences around their interests and learning goals. Over time, you will see your child develop abilities such as language, motor movement, memory, concentration and social relationships all by partaking in these experiences - it's a truly incredible journey to witness!
Our team is compiled of educators from varying age groups and walks of life. I am so proud to be a part of a team who is truly so committed to their roles and are consistently striving to improve the quality of the centre. We work collaboratively with one another and support each other in our individual and team goals. Our service philosophy is based on providing positive and reciprocal relationships with children and families. It is our hope that every child who walks through our doors feels safe and supported. We aim to be a home away from home so that team members, children and families know that once they come here, they are forever apart of the Great Beginnings family.
Our team understands just how important your children are to you and we ensure we take our responsibilities seriously. Great Beginnings has extensive policy and procedures in place to assist our team in protecting children in our care. You can read more about our commitment to safety here.
In our foyer, we have a family and community information area which includes information on upcoming events in the community, as well as a grab and go station for families to access various morning snacks. We regularly incorporate cultural and community celebrations into the centre as well as positivity days such as PJ day, footy day etc.
We love supporting our families! Throughout our enrolment process we regularly communicate with families at each stage to ensure everything is in place for the much awaited first day. We offer families an orientation where they are able to meet the educators and share more information about their child. We also have a communication forum on our family communication app which allows for the team to send posts out to families regarding significant centre information. Educators strive to regularly communicate with the families face to face in the mornings and afternoons and ensure that we are consistently developing our relationships with families.
We look forward to meeting your family!
