Centre Manager - Great Beginnings Secret Harbour
“The area that fascinates me the most in this industry is development of a child’s brain, particularly in their first five years of life, when optimal development takes place.”
I have worked in early education in a variety of roles since I was 16 years old. Being an older child in my neighbourhood without younger siblings I was naturally drawn to be the caretaker during playtime, which gave me joy and inspired me in my adolescence to venture into the sector.
I studied childcare at TAFE and then built on that by gaining a BA (Hons) Childcare Studies in 2011. In the early childhood sector, I have worked in several roles including being a play leader, outreach worker and creche’ coordinator for refugee children.
The area that fascinates me the most in this industry is development of a child’s brain, particularly in their first five years of life, when optimal development takes place. With this theory in mind, I believe every child should have access to high quality learning and care to set the foundation for their educational journey.
The team at Great Beginnings Secret Harbour we aim to incorporate this theory by providing captivating learning environments that allow children to explore and develop strong relationships with their peers and families within our centre.
Our team sets ups holistic learning environments to form the basis of a third educator which with the purpose of providing children with calm, nurturing and predicable social play spaces to engage within. Our aim is to promote each individual child’s self-regulation skills to enable them to feel safe and secure so that they can learn, play and grow.
