“My passion is to create a rich learning environment that fosters fun and the development of children’s interests, abilities, and strengths.”

I began my journey in the early learning sector in 2012. Throughout my career, I have held various roles, including Educational Leader, where I guided quality practice and programming. My passion is to create a rich learning environment that fosters fun and the development of children’s interests, abilities, and strengths. Educators play a crucial role in offering children opportunities to develop life skills, face age-appropriate challenges, and make decisions about their learning journey. I strive to ensure every child is respected and valued as an individual in our community.

The early years (birth to five) are foundational for social and emotional development. Attending a dedicated early learning environment provides children with the stepping stones to build their identity, resilience, and independence before formal schooling. We aim to give all children a sense of agency and belonging.

Our team at Golden Bay is hand-picked for their passion, experience, and knowledge. We are dedicated educators committed to instilling a lifelong love of learning in children. Our families are always welcome. We have an orientation process to support new families in settling into care. We distribute a monthly event calendar and maintain regular, transparent communication to keep you informed. We welcome your feedback, questions, and concerns and are here to help.

I look forward to welcoming your family to our Great Beginnings Golden Bay early learning community.

“I value the importance of play, social interactions, and relationships in supporting children as they develop knowledge, skills, and understanding across a variety of learning areas.”

I recognise the crucial role the early years play in a child’s learning and development. I value the importance of play, social interactions, and relationships in supporting children as they develop knowledge, skills, and understanding across a variety of learning areas.

Play comes in many forms and provides children with the opportunity to engage their imagination and creativity, follow their curiosities, test new ideas, and explore different ways of thinking. Through play, children challenge their understanding, make adjustments, and acquire new knowledge and skills. My role as an educator is to provide children with ample opportunities to engage in diverse forms of play, fostering their development in a way that is engaging and meaningful to them.

I believe in uninterrupted opportunities for social interactions, where children can learn through play and collaboration. By using the environment as the third teacher, I create stimulating and enriching spaces that encourage exploration, problem-solving, and deep engagement. I am passionate about nurturing each child’s unique interests and supporting their natural development through play-based learning and meaningful experiences.

“My goal is to cultivate a space where children feel valued, seen, and encouraged to explore the world around them. “

I am an early childhood teacher as well as our centre’s Culture Champion. I firmly believe that children are the future, and as educators, we have a vital role in fostering their creativity, uniqueness, and potential.

Each child is born with a purpose, and I am passionate about creating a nurturing and safe environment that supports their holistic development. My goal is to cultivate a space where children feel valued, seen, and encouraged to explore the world around them. By providing opportunities for play, self-expression, and hands-on learning, I strive to lay the foundations for their future, empowering them to become confident individuals who positively contribute to the world.

I believe in celebrating every child’s individuality, guiding them to experience life through learning, play, and discovery. Inspired by the words of Nelson Mandela, “Our children are our greatest treasure. They are our future,” I am committed to ensuring that every child feels supported in becoming their best self.

“My teaching is influenced by Jean Piaget’s theory of cognitive development, which highlights the importance of active exploration and problem-solving in constructing knowledge.”

I am working towards my Early Childhood Teaching qualification while holding my Diploma in Early Childhood Education. I am also proud to be one of our centre’s Culture Champions.

I believe that every child is a unique individual with unlimited potential. As an educator, my role is to create an environment where children can learn, explore, and grow in a way that is meaningful to them. My teaching is influenced by Jean Piaget’s theory of cognitive development, which highlights the importance of active exploration and problem-solving in constructing knowledge.

I provide children with hands-on learning opportunities, encouraging them to take the lead in their education while developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Play is central to this process, as Piaget suggested that it fosters cognitive and social growth, allowing children to learn through real-life experiences.

Supporting children’s social and emotional development is a core value in my teaching. I create a safe, nurturing environment where children can build trusting relationships, regulate emotions, and develop social skills through cooperative experiences. As an educator, I am committed to ongoing reflection and growth, continuously learning and adapting to best support the children in my care.

Our Golden Bay Kindergarten’s Philosophy

At our Golden Bay Kindergarten, we focus on helping children learn through play, curiosity, and real-world experiences. We understand that every child comes to us with different knowledge, abilities, and ideas. Our educators plan learning activities that build on what each child already knows, helping them take the next steps at their own pace. We also value family input, knowing that families and caregivers play a vital role in supporting their child’s learning and happiness.

Our program is linked to Australia’s National Quality Framework, which means we offer high-quality education and care. We aim to create strong foundations for every child’s success through a balance of learning, friendship, creativity, and fun.

Our engaging extracurricular activities

At our Golden Bay Kindergarten, we offer a range of exciting extra programs that add fun, variety, and new experiences to each week. These programs help children build important life skills like confidence, teamwork, creativity, and cultural awareness while having a great time with friends:

Sports program

Every fortnight, our Future Champs Yoganastics sessions bring together yoga, fitness, and fun to help children stay active and healthy. These sessions support balance, flexibility, and coordination in an exciting and playful way. Children also look forward to our annual Sports Carnival, a lively day of teamwork, challenges, and celebration with Coach Nathan.

Culture program

In Term 3, Aunty Fran from Waabiny Kulungar joins us weekly to share the richness of Noongar culture. Through music, language, storytelling, and traditional activities, children gain a deep appreciation for Aboriginal culture, building respect and connection to Australia’s First Peoples.

Mindfulness Mondays

Led by Educator Amy, our Mindfulness Mondays offer small group yoga and mindfulness sessions. These sessions help children slow down, relax, and learn to understand their emotions. With regular practice, children build strength, coordination and emotional resilience.

Strong local school partnerships

At our Golden Bay Kindergarten, we believe that starting school is an exciting milestone, and we are committed to making the transition as smooth and positive as possible. We work closely with Golden Bay Primary School to help children feel confident, familiar, and excited about the next step in their learning journey. Throughout the kindy year, you and your child will have access to:

  • Transition to school statements: Our Early Childhood Teachers carefully prepare and share detailed transition statements with your child’s new school, giving teachers valuable insights into each child’s strengths, interests, and areas where they may need extra support, ensuring a smoother start to their formal education journey.
  • Kindy open nights: We invite families to attend Family Kindy Information Sessions at Golden Bay Primary School, helping families and children build a sense of familiarity with their future school community, meet key staff members, and learn about what to expect when starting school.
  • Various support resources: We collaborate closely with Golden Bay Primary School to introduce visual supports, self-regulation tools, and practical school readiness strategies in our kindergarten program, helping children build the confidence, skills, and emotional resilience needed for a successful transition to their new learning environment.

Frequently asked questions

In Australia, sessional kindergartens or preschools are usually operated by local government, religious organisations, schools, private organisations or the community. They usually run during school term and school hours, meaning the program runs for 40 weeks per year, with most sessions finishing up around 2 pm, over 2-3 days per week.

The kindergarten or preschool program is also offered in long day care centres. Most long day care centres are open from 7:00 AM. to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday with flexible drop-off/pick-up times to better accommodate busy working families. Long day care centres run 52 weeks per year, meaning your child would not miss out on valuable learning opportunities during school holidays.

Nutritional meals and snacks are covered in long day care centres, so you don’t have to worry about packing lunches.

Child Care Subsidy still applies when your child attends the kindergarten programs offered in long day care services. Depending on your state or territory, different funding options can be combined with your Child Care Subsidy savings, making kindergarten or preschool more affordable for your family.

Essentially, there is no difference between the curriculums adopted by long day care and sessional kindergarten or preschool providers. They are both run by qualified early childhood teachers, and they all align with Early Years Learning Framework, focusing on supporting individual children’s development, interests and needs through play-based and intentional learning experiences.

If your child is already settled at a long day care centre, they have the opportunity to stay in a familiar environment, transitioning together with their friends.

All our kindergarten programs run every day of the week. This means families have the flexibility for their child/ren to receive the highest quality learning experiences on days that best support them.

All our kindergarten programs follow the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), a national learning framework for Australia. These programs are informed by qualified and passionate Early Childhood Educators and Teachers. Our Curriculum accommodates each individual child’s learning, development, and well-being.

Kindergarten provides a unique time for children to further develop their positive dispositions to learning, oral language skills, and social/emotional and physical capabilities.
